There were two reasons:1. The screw that keeps the top and the bottom parts of the strainer together was too short. With my cultured granite sink (which is slightly thicker than a stainless steel sink) the screw was not reaching the thread on the bottom part. Finding a replacement screw locally turned out to be impossible, because these screws are non-standard and the hardware stores don't carry them. I managed to compress the two parts of the strainer together so that the screw caught the thread for just half a turn, but the thread on the bottom part is in *plastic*, and very soon the thread got stripped. 2. The top edge of the basket, when dropped into the strainer, extends above the surface of the sink by about 1/8th of an inch. This makes it a chore to brush the stuff from the sink into the basket, because it gets caught on the edge. The solution is to depress...
